How I can support you and your family
There’s so much pressure on parents to instinctively know how to guide their child through any challenge. But no parent has all the answers, all the time. Sometimes family dynamics become stuck in patterns that feel difficult to break.
That’s where therapy can make a real difference. With over 15 years of clinical experience in family therapy, I help families break out of frustrating cycles and better understand what’s driving their interactions.
I draw on evidence-based approaches including family systems theory, attachment theory, and neurobiological insights to help parents and children shift from conflict and disconnection to collaboration and mutual understanding.
Whether it’s understanding what’s driving explosive behaviours, or learning how to respond to difficult interactions at home or school, therapy offers a safe space to repair breakdowns in trust, communication, and confidence. My goal is to help each family member feel heard, valued, and equipped with the tools to navigate challenges together.
Family Therapy
Family therapy helps individuals gain insights into each other’s perspectives, address conflicts with empathy, and develop healthier ways of interacting.
By building on existing family strengths, therapy fosters deeper connections, enhances problem-solving skills, and supports families in adapting to life’s challenges together.
I’m an experienced Family Therapist who specialises in working with families to understand and address emotional and behavioural challenges in children and adolescents.
Every family I work with is trying as hard as they can to resolve these challenges, but sometimes the solution requires a different approach.
Many parents, particularly those with a history of trauma, find themselves reacting to their child’s behaviour in ways that feel confusing or frustrating. I help parents recognise these patterns with self-compassion, break intergenerational cycles, and build a parenting approach grounded in connection, rather than reactivity.
This is an area I am particularly passionate about, as I’ve seen the profound impact that healing past wounds can have on transforming and strengthening the parent-child relationship.
Support for adolescents
In my work with young people, I draw on over 15 years’ clinical experience in child and adolescent mental health.
I support adolescents who are navigating mental health issues or family conflict, or who are displaying oppositional behaviours at school, at home, or in the community.
Through evidence-based strategies like Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), I help young people to better understand themselves and why they are experiencing challenges.
Together, we develop a plan that not only addresses their challenges but also considers their broader environment and relationships, and how they can strengthen their connections and support networks.
Empathy, compassion and rapport are at the core of my work with adolescents, helping to build a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship that empowers them to flourish.
While I typically meet with adolescents one-on-one, I try to work with the family as much as possible. I firmly believe that family is one of the strongest protective factors for young people’s mental health and wellbeing, so my approach is always geared towards family healing.
By strengthening communication, attunement, and co-regulation within the family, therapy not only supports the young person but also creates a more stable and connected home environment.
Parent coaching
I use a range of family therapy approaches to help parents better understand their child’s behaviours, support their child’s development, and strengthen their confidence in parenting – thereby creating a more connected and supportive family environment.
Drawing from evidence-based approaches such as attachment theory, Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS) and emotion coaching, I help parents develop practical strategies that align with their child’s unique needs.
Parent coaching focuses on improving emotional attunement, setting clear and compassionate boundaries, and fostering co-regulation – ensuring parents feel equipped to support their child’s development while maintaining family harmony even in challenging moments.
